Achieving the Whitest, Brightest Smile
Your smile is one of the most important aspects
of the way you present yourself to others. Whiter, brighter
teeth can help you feel more confident about your appearance.
Bleaching can reverse the effect of darkening teeth caused by
aging, smoking, coffee and tea drinking. Just as people have
different skin and hair color, people also have different tooth
color. Bleaching can successfully lighten teeth.

Bleaching Is Safe
Done under the supervision of a dental professional,
bleaching is very safe. The advantages of this procedure are that no tooth
structure is lost and no anesthetic is required. Bleaching does not harm
the teeth in any way. While bleaching is a fast, safe, and an easy process
it is not for everyone. Your dentist will evaluate your teeth and determine
if bleaching is right for you. In some cases a different cosmetic procedure may be more effective
What is Involved in Bleaching
There are two types of bleaching procedures. Chair side
bleaching is done in the dental office. It usually takes about an hour to
complete. At home bleaching involves making an impression of your teeth and
you applying the bleaching gel yourself at home. Both systems work well and
both are very safe. The major difference is cost. Chair side bleaching is
usual about twice the cost of at home bleaching.
How Long Does it Last
The
whitening of your teeth should last for many years depending on your
personal activity such as drinking coffee or tea or smoking. Usually just a
touch up by reapplying the bleaching gel is all that is required to keep
them at their whitest. A touch up usually requires a much shorter treatment
time than the original bleaching.
