Grinding of the teeth can occur in adults as well as children. Grinding usually occurs at night.

If you grind your teeth at night it can result in sore and sensitive teeth. It can also cause TMJ problems. Grinding can also cause teeth to crack and break. Over time grinding can cause a tooth to die and abscess.

Bruxism, or grinding, can be treated and in most cases cured. A dental examination should be done to access any damage and treatment necessary. Often a bruxism appliance is made to prevent damage to the opposing teeth from the grinding. It is easy to wear and can prevent further damage to your teeth.
